“I play the music for my students and it sets the tone for meaningful creation…”
Sondra, artist and teacher

The piano works published here are pure improvisations. I’ll sit down and freely explore for a few minutes to find a theme, a rhythm, a chord change or voicing that intrigues me, and then spontaneously build a piece around that simple idea. Most of the pieces are thus compact, and far from perfect or polished. Hopefully they make up for that in freshness. The style is somewhere between New Age, Jazz, and ethnic music, inspired by my favorite pianists like Keith Jarrett, Lyle Mays, Liz Story, Philip Aaberg. Many listeners find the style a great accompaniment to creative or meditative endeavors - bringing calm and focus to the task at hand - even if it’s driving!

My second album, Dry Hot Long Ago, is also available for sale in CD form directly from me, or for download from iTunes and Amazon.

Podcast

I publish new music as a free podcast called Spontaneous Reflections. As these pieces accumulate I arrange and remaster them into albums, at which point they disappear from the podcast feed. I hope you enjoy Spontaneous Reflections!
