Spontaneous Reflections is a musical journal, updated approximately weekly. It’s available free in the iTunes store or you can subscribe directly here.

Most of the pieces posted on Spontaneous Reflections are pure improvisations. I’ll sit down and noodle for a few minutes to find a theme, a rhythm, a chord change or voicing that intrigues me, and then build a piece around that simple idea. Most of the pieces are thus compact, and far from perfect or polished. Hopefully they make up for that in freshness. The style is somewhere between New Age, Jazz, and ethnic music, inspired by my favorite pianists like Keith Jarrett, Lyle Mays, Liz Story, Philip Aaberg.
